Shinee ~ Dream Girl

As I mentioned in my intro, I will, from time to time, post stuff other than Kdrama reviews. I think you will not complain about today's review. 

SHINEE'S BACK!!

On February 19th, Shinee came back with a BANG with their new song "Dream Girl". Along with the new song came an ovary exploding video! (what else would we expect from Shinee??) Here is my reaction and thoughts about this new video. Oh, and in case you have been under a rock or in a coma and have not seen the video yet, here is the link...

First off, HOW HOT IS TAEMIN? He use to be so cute and now he is just upgraded to hot status. When did that happen?? I love this beginning part with him in it and am SO glad that he is getting more solo parts. He has an amazing voice! 

I don't know about the rest of you Shawol's but I personally do not like Key with blonde hair. Do not get me wrong, I love Key to death, he is the cutest thing ever (well besides Onew...and Minho..and Jonghyun...oh forget it!! He is just cute!! lol) but I love when he has darker hair. I hope I am not the only one!

Speaking of my Onew (yes he is my bias and he is MINE hahaha) even though I love him so so much, I am not digging his looks in this video. There are a few cute shots of him which I have captured and will share later but for the most part, his looks are just not getting me in this video. His voice however, makes up for it all. I love, love, LOVE to listen to Onew sing!! 

Minho looks the same. Not that I was expecting anything drastic because it has not been that long ago since we actually saw them, but I was hoping he changed his style. It is okay though...he is still freaking adorable!

Jonghyun. Oh that sexy hunk of Korean! He looks SO GOOD in this video. When I first started listening/watching Shinee, I thought he looked like a monkey but WOW he is really hot in this video. He knows it too!! haha

OK now that I picked apart our adorable members, let's get into the video.  The beginning is OK. Seems like a lot of kpop videos start with some kind of different lighting, which is OK. 

I really like how they used the mic stands as props through the video. Nothing fancy but it works good for them. 

So have any of you wondered why the girl has flowers for a face? I read an explanation that makes sense, it said that in our dreams, we never really see a person's face. Pretty cool. 

I have one question to the fashion crew of this video. WHAT THE HECK IS WITH THESE PANTS??? I mean really? Put them in PJ's or something but not these ugly pants. I can't even tell who's pants are the worst! (I think the PJ's would have been sexier!) Oh and is Taemin wearing a pink turtleneck?? Oh Taemin honey...Martina is gonna get you for that!! 

I love the whole concept of this video. it looks like they had a lot of fun making it with the trampoline and all. Was a really cool idea to add that.

The only thing I am disappointed about in this video is the lack of dance. We all know that the members of Shinee are known for their dancing and they are really good at it. We don't see any at all.

Regardless of the way he looks in this video (I think he looks the best with the hat on) he is still my favorite in Shinee!

Boys over Flowers ~ Episode 2 review

In our previous episode we seen where Jan Di was grabbed by a few school guys. They try to take off with her, kicking and screaming.

 All of a sudden who shows up? Yes, Ji Hoo! Instead of him helping at first, he bends down and asks her about pancakes!!

Finally he makes them let her go. She thanks him but he tells her he did not do it for her but because he gets annoyed at this type of stuff. Why does he let Jun Pyo get away with it? 

Later we see Jan Di riding home on her bike. She passes Ji Hoo who is staring at a billboard of a model. When she backs up she sees that he has his face planted on the billboard. She tells him that he should not do that because his hands will get all black and dirty. She pulls out some napkins (or wipes I can't tell) and he thinks she is going to give them to him to clean his hands. Instead she walks right past him and cleans the billboard! Once again we get an awesome smile from him!

Jun Pyo starts a rumor around the school that a girl is pregnant. Everyone is wondering who it is and then he announces that it is Jan Di. This enrages her so she gives in and goes to Jun Pyo to confront him. He thinks she is there to apologize. This time instead of throwing ice cream in his face, she gives him a flying round kick to the face! His friends are all laughing and enjoying the show but once again Jun Pyo has that shocking look on his face! He really can not believe this girl!!

Jun Pyo must have hit his head because now he thinks that Jan Di is doing all of this because she is in love with him. (At this point I am starting to think it is the other way around)

Jun Pyo then has his goons kidnap Jan Di. She does a good job at first hiding from them but they sneak up behind her and put her in a car. She puts up a pretty good fight until they use chloroform on her. When she wakes up, she is being pampered by his staff. They do her hair and makeup and put her in really nice clothing.

 She is then taken by the steward to a room and says someone is waiting for her. (By the way, did you see that house? OMG!) She sees a figure by the window and thinks that it is Ji Hoo. When she realizes it is Jun Pyo she starts yelling at him. Jun Pyo tells her that from now on, he will allow her to speak to him when they are alone. She rejects him which sends him into a rage. He orders for all of the maids that served her to be fired. At that same moment, he spots a bee and starts running around like a little girl screaming until they finally shoo the bee out of the window. Instead of firing all of the maids he only fires the one that made the tea since he figures that she is the one that brought it in. 

Jan Di leaves the house angry and then realizes she still has on the shoes he bought.  She takes them off and throws them over the fence leaving herself barefooted. But....DA DA DA DA....JI HOO TO THE RESCUE!!! He shows up on his motorbike. They sit and talk for a few minutes (and he smiles A LOT!) and before he leaves he gives her his shoes to wear home. Lucky girl!!

The next day when she goes to return the shoes, she runs into the other 2 members of the F4, Ji Yung and Woo Bin. She gives them the shoes to give to Ji Hoo and goes to leave but they stop her and offer her tea. As they are talking, they tell Jan Di about Ji Hoo and his childhood and the car wreck that killed his parents. They also tell her about his love for the model (from the billboard) Min Seo Hyun. 

Later at home during dinner, Jan Di's brother finds gambling tickets in the back pocket of his fathers pants. This causes a fight between her parents. Jan Di goes to her room where she pulls out the handkerchief that Ji Hoo gave her when she was covered in flour and puts it safely away in her desk drawer. I think it is safe to say this is when we realize she is in love with Ji Hoo. 

The next day while everyone in the school is outside playing sports, Jan Di gets it in the face with a soccer ball which causes her nose to bleed. While she is cleaning herself up, Jun Pyo comes in and tries to help her. She rejects him again. By the hurt look on Jun Pyo's face I would say that we now know that Jun Pyo has fallen for Jan Di. 

*I have to add this picture because it made me laugh. When I paused the show to write a few things down this is what I came back to.

Now we get to the best part of this whole episode. Or maybe that is just my opinion but I am sure there are MANY girls who will agree with me. The shower scene!!! 

What a way to tease us fangirls right?

The school has planned a cruise trip for the students. Jan Di can not go due to the amount that it costs for the ticket. It looks like Jun Pyo has bought a ticket for her and is upset when she does not show up. Instead, Jan Di and Ga Eul decide to go on a fishing trip. Ji Hoo does not go either because he is meeting Min SeoHyun. 

There is a welcome home party for Min SeoHyun and Jun Pyo invites Jan Di. She once again rejects him but quickly agrees when Ji Hoo invites her. 

The 3 fangirls (although I think it is safe to call the mean girls now) trick Jan Di into wearing a Wonder Woman costume to the party. Jan Di tries to leave once she realizes she has been fooled but ends up hiding behind a food table. The mean-girls come over and try to take off Jan Di's coat, exposing her costume. Jan Di ends up knocking over a table and the whole party sees her. Everyone is in shock. Jun Pyo goes to save her but Ji Hoo gets to her first. Jun Pyo looks really upset. 

Min SeoHyun dresses Jan Di up for the party and also tells her about Jun Pyos' life.

*Min SeoHyun gives us a great quote. "Good shoes will take you to good places!"

When Jan Di walks back into the party, the faces on both Jun Pyo and Ji Hoo are great!

Jun Pyo even drops his plate of food!!

This episode ends with Min SeoHyun telling Ji Hoo to go dance with Jan Di.


This is the episode that got me. Even though the first episode is good, I was not able to really get into it until after this episode so if you are struggling...just keep with it...it gets better from here!

Boys over Flowers ~ Episode 1 Review

In the beginning of this episode it is explained to us about the Shinhwa school system. (Don't you just LOVE that name Shinhwa? I wonder if they love having their name all over everything haha) As you will or have seen, it is a VERY prestigious school.

The F4 in this school rule EVERYTHING. They have this red card system where if you get one in your locker, you are the target of the whole school. The first person that we see that gets one is Min Ha. As soon as he opens his locker and sees the card, boys from all over the school jump him. They beat him up prety badly and at one point he throws a few around himself. They end up chasing him to the top of the school building where he is going to jump and end his life. (Now at this part, is it me or does he look like he could be related to Cho Kyuhyun?)

Enter Geum Jan Di, the dry cleaners daughter, on a bike, delivering clothes to who? Yes, Min Ha who is about to jump to his death. She races to the top, clothes in hand to find out what is going on. While he is standing on the ledge, she is trying to negotiate the price of the dry cleaning!! This was pretty funny to me. After a few words back and forth he still decides to jump. When Jan Di sees him jump, she throws the clothes and catches him before he falls.

She is then labeled "Wonder Girl" and is the talk of the country. President Kang (Jun Pyo's mother and the President of the Shinhwa company) decides to save face and give Jan Di a scholarship to the school. Jan Di does not want to go to the school but her mother convinces her. By the way, her mother is so funny and cute in this show!!

Jan Di works not only works at her parents Dry Cleaners, but she works at a porridge shop (with her best friend Ga Eul) and she goes to school and has a social life (my daughter might need to read up on her..real or not!)

Speaking of the porridge shop and I know I am about to point out just a tiny insignificant part of this show, but did you see on the window of the porridge shop that it says "Slow food" in contrast to todays "Fast food"? Love that!

So Jan Di finally arrives at school and this place is so big she has to have a map and she still gets lost! She is trying to find the swimming pool (the only real reason she agreed to go to this school) and ends up in what looks like a forest with a sidewalk. Who does she meet in this fairytale walk through the woods? Yep, Ji Hoo. Playing a violin. In the woods. In all white. Uh huh...fairytale! HAHA.

So back to the school we go and all of a sudden there are screams from all these girls announcing that the F4 are here. Do they do this everytime? That would just get annoying! I do not really understand fangirls. These people go completely NUTS over these people (this is in real life also) and sometimes even hurt these kdrama and kpop stars! Why? Why can they just not act normal. Do you think these guys would give you the time of day with you crying and fainting and stomping all over them? (Don't hurt me guys, this is just my opinion) If I ever got to meet one, I would at least try to keep my composure and possibly get to at least talk to one. Speaking of "fangirls" I see that we have a few in this drama. 

Look at the one of the right. Who does she remind you of? I think it looks Shin Hye-Sung.

Back to the F4. They walk into the school and Jun Pyo spots this guy who is wearing the exact same shirt as him and give him 3 seconds to take it of (although the guy does not know what he is talking about). When he just stands there, Jun Pyo takes Woo Bin's juice and pours it down his shirt. This makes Jan Di mad and she goes to what I would guess is this abandoned building and is screaming all kinds of nasty things about the F4 into the air, not knowing that Ji Hoo is asleep under the stairs and hears every word. They exchange a few words and he leaves.

The next day, the F4 walks in again and this time a girl has baked a cake for Jun Pyo and gives it to him. He takes it and then smashes it into her face. Jan Di is standing in the back and sees what has happened and is once again mad. She imagines what she would say to him but when he comes up and asks her if she has anything to say, she just says no and he walks off. Ji Hoo stops for a second and gives Jan Di the sexiest big smile EVER! Oh how I love Ji Hoo and his smile!

It is nice to see that Jan Di makes a friend at this school. I really thought that she might be a complete outcast. One day her and her friend Min Ji go out for ice cream. Min Ji is walking along a narrow curb type thing and falls off. Her ice cream lands on Jun Pyo's shoe. He tells her to lick it off and Jan Di steps forward and finally tells him how she feels. He then tells Jan Di that if she wants him to let Min Ji off the hook, she has to lick it off herself. When she starts to bend down, she quickly shoves her ice cream in his face!! Oh the look on his face was priceless!! 

Jun Pyo decides he is going to get even and gives Jan Di the red card. He has them go easy on her by taking away and hiding her desk and when she finds it, it is covered with all kinds of obscenities. They also at one point throw eggs and her and cover her in flour. Jan Di, being tough as nails, endures it all. She ends up going back to the abandoned building to calm herself down by screaming again and guess who is there? Yep Ji Hoo. He sees the state she is in and tries to help her by taking his handkerchief and wiping away the flour on her face and clothes. He seems like the good guy, why is he in this group??

Jun Pyo waits back at his "clubhouse" for Jan Di to come confront and apologize to him but she never shows. He then has someone dump garbage into the school's pool knowing that she swims there everyday. When even that does not work we see at the end that a few guys grab her and start to take off with her. What has Jun Pyo planned now??

*A few things I would like to add that I did not mention in this blog.
1) Who's heart skipped a beat at 29:09?
2) Ji Yung's English is ADORABLE! ( I told you, perfection! )
3) I love love LOVE Jun Pyo's ringtone. I now have it on my phone!

K-Drama Obsession ~ BOYS OVER FLOWERS!

Boys over Flowers is one of the GREATEST K-Dramas of all time (which is why I am picking it first to review). 

BoF debuted on January 5, 2009. Sadly it only lasted 25 episodes and ended on March 31, 2009. If you have already watched this show, I think you will agree with me that it could have gone on FOREVER and still I would never get tired of it. If you have not seen it yet...where have you been?

Storyline

 There is this school for rich people called Shinhwa (don't you just love that name?) Only the very lucky get to attend this school. At this school, there is a group of what I would call "The Untouchables". The group is actually called the F4. They pretty much run the school and the girls go NUTS over them. You will see why in a few. A dry cleaner's daughter gets the chance of a lifetime to attend this school. She is not rich and not pretty. When she sees the things that go on in the school and how the F4 treats everyone, she speaks out which causes her to be the target of the whole school. She finds herself attracted to one of the members of the F4 and when the school turns on her, he helps her out whenever he can. The leader of this group really has it out for her but after he sees that she endures whatever he dishes out, he starts to change his ways and falls for her. They go through many obstacles, including his mother keeping them apart and trying to destroy her life. In the end, will love concur all?
